Glassworks: the live experience

We asked Andrew Sterman, saxophonist and flautist with The Philip Glass Ensemble, what is so special about hearing Glassworks live. Composed in 1981 for the ‘Walkman Generation’, in easily digestible short tracks, the entire piece has only recently begun to been performed live in its complete form.

It’s impossible to listen to this music with your standard, old ears

Watch the video below to find out what it’s like to hear Glass’ music played live.

Hear The Philip Glass Ensemble play Glassworks, alongside excerpts from three operas, at the Cambridge Corn Exchange on 29 September.
